Nedap Security Management develops specialised software and hardware to secure buildings. It has developed AEOS, the leading access control system that supports and enhances the primary processes of organisations, making them safer. Security of the physical security system is indispensable in this regard.
Quoting quick and easy
The Security Design Configurator enables Nedap Security Management to quote quick and easy. The quotation process has been fully digitised and greatly simplified. Allowing for:
- Easy upload of floor plans of the relevant buildings
- Standardizing information provided by the customer
- Allowing customers to easily indicate the security measures they want to implement within the tool, directly on the floor plans
- Automated budgeting for all projects
Optimised client communication
The Security Design Configurator puts an end to the endless stream of emails between the customer and the Nedap Security Management team. Previously, building drawings were sent back and forth, with manually drawn icons, texts, and measurements. Due to the various feedback rounds during the quoting process, it could sometimes take weeks or even months before being finalised.
With the online configurator, the customer can easily indicate which security measures are needed throughout a building and gain advise from the Nedap Security Management team. Fewer feedback rounds are needed because the tool specifies the minimum requirements before a proposal can be submitted. The quotation format now is the same throughout, allowing the team to easily and quickly assess the feasibility of a project and make adjustments if necessary.

Keep it simple
The configurator was developed to meet the need for something that is normally a time-consuming and complex exercise to be made quick and easy. While meeting various technical requirements at the same time. It was not an option to omit or simplify technical information. The Security Design Configurator is developed in order to enable the team to share thorough quotations for complete buildings with the customer, based on the correct (financial) information, preferences, and technical specifications.
Continuous improvement
Short iterations (sprints) were the base of the development and implementation cycle of the Security Design Configurator. This agile approach allowed to slightly adjust the requirements along the road. Leading to more than a desired end result and a very positive perception at both the team and external clients.
New functionalities will be added step by step and modifications will be done, taking user feedback into account.
